Drunk Driving

Drunk Driving is obviously dangerous. Most people drink to have fun, or even to forget about stuff but that doesn't always work. When you're drunk the last thing you can think about is what the consequences will be. Your such in a adrenaline moment that the last thing that matters to you is what going to happen next you just want to live the moment. drunk driving can lead to a really bad accident were you can lose you're life.

I choose this topic because I though it would be something interesting to learn more about and let other know more about it, and recognize the seriousness there is in an accident in cause of using alcohol when your driving.

Drunk driving laws date back to the early decades of the 20th century. Back then, however police found it really hard to find out how much alcohol there was in the person's body when an accident happened. Around the year 1930's scientists began to use breath and blood samples to measure the BAC level of the drivers. Many states made it illegal to drive with a BAC level above a certain point. There was a major issue in the antidrunk driving movement and gave formation to Mothers Against Drunk Driving during 1980. MADD was founded by Candy Lightner whose13-year old girl got killed because of a drunk driver. When the mother tried to check up on the driver's legal records she started to get frustrated by how hard it was, and with what she saw that nobody would really tak eit seriously. Candy Lightner joined forces with people all around the country who had lost family members as well as her all thanks to drunk driver's. Later on president Ronald Reagan signed the uniform Drinking age Act into law, mandating the states adopt a legal drinking age of 21. There are many tests a cop can give you to be able to know if your drunk or not like make you walk in a straigh line or standig on one leg for a period of time. If you are caugh lying about you beeing drunk the cop can arrest you.

Hi Tania. That was some helpful background info-- I didn't know how long we have had blood-alcohol testing or when MADD started. Please be sure to add your sources cited in MLA format. Also, you can split this into two blog posts: 1) Introduction and 2) Background Information If you need help, let me know.
